How To Get Effective Backlinks? | TheFreeTrafficPump Blog

General | Comments (0) @ 12:26 pm

If you have a website or blog, then you probably heard about backlinks and SEO. Backlinks are incoming links to your website received from another web node. As more backlinks a website has, as more its popularity and authority grows in comparison to other similar web pages or sites. Backlinks are also known as inbound links, incoming links (IBL), inlinks and inward links.

Search engines use the number of backlinks received by a website to determine its reputation on the web (page rank). You shouldn’t exchange links with website that received penalties from Google for promoting illegal or plagiarized content. Backlinks from authoritative websites with a high PR are highly valuable.

Getting backlinks from a web page that links back to a significant number of websites won’t help you too much. On the other hand, it’s better to receive backlinks from a page with PR 0 or no PR, because every link is perceived by Google as a favorable ‘editorial vote’ for your website. There are several factors that determine the value of a backlink. Qualitatively, a backlink should be evaluated by its authority, popularity and Page Rank.

How to get quality backlinks? First of all, you have to submit your site to web directories. Don’t start by launching link exchange campaigns. Focus on those websites that don’t practice black-hat SEO techniques and web directories that link back to your website without requiring you to add a backlink. Don’t spam your backlink everywhere! A great way to promote your website is article submission, which works like a viral process. There are many article directories to choose from; all you have to do is to write relevant content.

Getting backlinks from reputable websites with a high Page Rank is the most effective way to promote your website in search engines. However, this might be difficult at first. Try to provide something on your website that people will want to link to. This way, you’ll increase the popularity of your website.

The most important is to provide quality content. No one will visit your website if there’s nothing interesting to read about. Even if you sell something, you must do it in a unique way. Don’t try to fool your visitors and don’t underestimate them. Offer unique and accurate information to gain their loyalty. Get involved in discussions and post on forums. Don’t forget about social networks, which are a powerful marketing tool.

Search relevant keywords for your website and use them in titles and URLs. For example, if your site is about dating and romance, use “dating” and “romance” as keywords. Building quality backlinks is extremely important to SEO, so make sure you’re doing everything in the right way.

To increase Google ranking, is a blog a better place to house articles or a menu bar?

General | Comments (0) @ 12:26 am

Two month old website.
I want to boost google ranking.
I’ve written articles, and plan to pursue a link building strategy
Is it wiser to keep all articles in a blog on my website OR to have a tab on my website called ‘media’ and have all the articles listed there? If it’s a blog, of course I’d send only one article at a time to other sites requesting linkage (not the entire blog itself)

To increase Google ranking, is a blog a better place to house articles or a menu bar?

AutoONE Media Launches New River Auto Mall Dealership and Group Websites

General | Comments (0) @ 12:26 pm

AutoONE Media releases the new NewRiverAutomall.com, as well as 7 dealer websites on their new DealerPRO 3.0 website platform.

Plano, TX (PRWEB) April 19, 2010 — Today, AutoONE Media announced the completion of a website redesign and transition to their new website partner, New River Auto Mall, for all of their dealership automotive websites, including a fully revamped NewRiverAutoMall.com which allows visitors to search out new and used cars across 10 different manufacturers in the South Carolina Lowcountry and coastal Georgia region.

The change to AutoONE Media’s DealerPRO websites was driven by a need to have cutting-edge websites, which rank at the top organically with major search engines, especially Google, and provide New River Auto Mall with the flexibility to explore the rapidly expanding web 2.0 technologies such as mobile, video and social media integration, on which many of their consumers rely. New River Automall.com redesigned home page (screen shot)
“Over the past year, we recognized the need for our websites to be more interactive, to have better SEO, and to be easier to navigate. After about 6 months of research and product demos, we decided to partner with AutoONE,” said Bobby Kisselback, Vice President of NRAM Holdings, LLC, parent company of the New River Auto Mall. “We’re really pleased with the new websites, and sure they’ll provide a better experience for our customers. They’ll also bring us new customers and more traffic through enhanced SEO.”

After signing with AutoONE in February of 2010, Marketing Coordinator Jill Jauch and BDC Coordinator Amanda Byelich worked closely with Juan Carroll, AutoONE Chief Marketing Officer and Managing Owner, to come up with the new designs and enhanced features and functionality for the new sites. Over the last month, the New River Auto Mall hub site and the individual dealership sites for the 10 franchises migrated to AutoONE’s DealerPRO website platform. The sites now have an exceptionally strong foundation for search engine optimization, as well as new elements like mobile, video, and video SEO.

“Working with AutoONE on this transition has been great. They see the value in having sites that allow customers to get to the information they want quickly – which is what search engine optimization is all about,” said Jauch. “Customers don’t want to go to multiple sites and pages to research their vehicle. With NewRiverAutoMall.com, they won’t have to. Car shoppers can use our vehicle comparison tools and videos to decide which new or used car or truck they want, fill out an online credit application for instant approval, get their trade value estimated and set an appointment to test drive their new car, all from the site. Once they purchase the car, they can go back to NewRiverAutomall.Com to schedule their first service appointment and buy accessories.”

“It’s not every day that we find a true website partner that is eager and willing to learn new things that will allow them to be successful and compete in an ever changing market. Jill and Amanda have been great to work with, and I’m very excited about the opportunity to work with Bobby and his Group of GM’s. They are definitely a first class organization,” said Juan Carroll, Chief Marketing Officer | Managing Owner of AutoONE Media LLC.

Everyone on the New River Auto Mall team invites customers to test drive the all new NewRiverAutomall.com, and experience the NRAM difference!

SEO and Google: A Marriage of Convenience

General | Comments (0) @ 12:26 am

They may make for slightly uncomfortable bedfellows, but Google (and the other search engines) need Search Engine Optimisation, just like SEO needs Google. Can’t live with them, can’t live without them, the ultimate marriage of convenience.

The whole point of a search engine algorithm is to index websites by mathematically calculating dozens of ranking factors. Search Engine Optimisation is, by its very nature, a process that continuously looks for ways to improve rankings by any legitimate means possible. Google wants to keep things natural; SEO just wants what’s best for a particular site.

Search engines have to fight a constant battle to prevent unscrupulous types gaming their system. Whilst they have no (open) objection to developers strengthening their site and abiding by the rules; Google, Bing and Yahoo are constantly having to monitor for techniques that may undermine their algorithm.

SEO is, by and large, an entirely ethical process. It is carried out by millions of sites each and every day, whether knowingly or not. But with so many competing pages and so much strengthening going on, finding new ways to get a site to the top is a major priority (and obstacle). This means that somebody, somewhere is always testing the boundaries, looking for weak points that could earn them an advantage.

However, without search engines, there would be no SEO. Heaven forbid.

SEO represents the population, happily going about their business on the surface, whilst the search engine is the planet, a solid entity around which everything else is built and developed. Just as with any planet, Google needs activity to justify its existence.

But why does Google need SEO? Well, imagine a web without any optimisation whatsoever. There would be little or no original content, link sharing would be at a premium and websites would be an architectural mess – not good. Whilst they don’t want to be gamed, search engines do need people to understand best practices and help spread the word.

Lest we forget, links are the lifeblood for any search engine. They provide the framework that their spiders can follow and index the wealth of information being shared every day. The search engine who is able to index the most information and present it in the most effective way will conquer all – I guess that would be Google then?

But as you can see, the Google-SEO relationship is an uneasy one. Going back to my earlier analogy, if Google is the Earth, then SEO are the inhabitants. There are many tribes, all with their own ideas and approaches, but fundamentally we are all looking for progress. Some want to be successful on their own merits, others want to do as little as possible and break the rules to get their own way.

Google, or earth, would be just another rock spinning through space if it weren’t for the millions of creatures constantly working away on the surface. It would be no more important than Neptune (or, say, Lycos) if it weren’t for all of this life. However, that isn’t to say all of the output from those SEOers is good for Google.

Pollution is damaging the search engines. There is so much noise, so much activity and a swelling population to deal with. But without the earth beneath them, the SEO life couldn’t exist, they would become extinct.

Search engines have to find a balance though. This is why they are so willing to engage with the SEO community (employing folk like Matt Cutts to do so). Whilst they don’t want people to be finding ways around their sophisticated algorithms and tainting their rankings with poor sites; Google and Co. can’t rely on an index based on chance or human opinion. It is their job to ensure that only the best websites prosper, which is why we have so many algorithm updates.

So whilst Google could survive without SEO, it wouldn’t be the same as it is now if optimisation weren’t around. Somebody has to carry the good word. There has to be some system in place to ensure websites are being created and developed in the best possible fashion. As Mike highlighted earlier this month, a world without search would be a very jumbled place indeed [see: What If… Search Didn't Exist?].

The two factions of SEO and search engines may be in a constant tussle with one another, but neither could fully exist without the other. So for now, SEO will continue to try to improve Google rankings, whilst Google make it harder to do so.

It might be a marriage of convenience, but it certainly isn’t one that is likely to break up any time soon.

Top Strategies For Using Free Article Marketing To Build One Way …

General | Comments (0) @ 12:26 pm

For many users a SEO book brings the key to the mystery of web site running in the direction of good search engine performance. Of course, when designing a web site, the true success of your business efforts will be materialized in the number of visitors you are going to register. The higher you are ranked by a search engine such as Google, Yahoo, MSN search, or others, the higher the visitor traffic of your Internet site. But to many people effective link building remains a pretty obscure concept.

To clarify that, a SEO book would most likely begin with a definition and exemplification of what the term in itself means. To give you a preview, SEO is the short form of search engine optimization/optimizers, and the expression refers to all the one way link building strategies and methods used for traffic generation and competitiveness increase on the electronic market. The Internet has evolved from a source of information to a business, and presently, it is both. Advertising companies represent one factor that has turned the Internet and web site traffic into a business, and of course there may be many other similar aspects. Details like the ones I have already mentioned will surely be dealt with in a SEO book given the fact that the final aim of the material is to achieve some form of training for the site builder in the direction of success.

The widest SEO book offer is undoubtedly offered online. Printed materials are suitable for those users who prefer the classic paper format for their books. Others are in electronic format and they can be downloaded either for free or in exchange for a certain amount of money. You can stay up to date with all the marketing strategies thanks to such guides to Internet marketing and SEO.

Opinions on one SEO book or another are widely shared on forums or posted as testimonials for the reading experience. Some readers are content to have learned something new, others that they have been able to clarify certain concepts and strategies that they had already been aware of but failed to put into practice; yet others claim that with the theoretical background in a good SEO book you can actually perform site optimization. All in all, people who make a living out of SEO rely heavily on the latest trends and currents to work with on the market. To them, a SEO book represents just another investment taken seriously to keep up with the good work they have been doing so far.

10 Travel SEO Strategies | WpBlog Information Collection

General | Comments (0) @ 12:26 am

video SEORecently a study has shown that video’s are far more likely to rank on top of search results these days. In other words it’s much easier to optimize your YouTube videos to get on top of Google search with blended in video search results, as opposed to hoping to get there via regular text and link based ranking. YouTube is of course your friend here but SEO is much more than just optimization for YouTube.10 Travel SEO Strategies

I’d like to list here 10 travel SEO strategies for those who have to compete in this tough niche.

So you see all roads lead to Rome, or in our case rather London or Oxford. You can’t solely focus on good old conventional SEO tactics when it comes to optimisation for the travel industry. Unless you can afford it either by being there for 10 years already or having a domain as strong as Wikipedia. You should employ at least a few strategies at the same time.

You can’t always compete with the big guys and age-old leaders in the good old organic results of Google. Thanks to universal search we have plenty of ways to get found. Also travel is about car rentals and flights. You have specialized “vertical” search engines for those.

When it comes to travel SEO, competition is often fierce. Huge authority travel sites, luxury hotels and millions of apartments all fight for attention. Both SEOptimise in the UK and myself in Germany have been working with many SEO clients from the travel sector. Kevin Gibbons has already provided a must read resource on travel SEO back in 2008.

Contact SEOptimise to get a hand crafted travel SEO audit. Not sure yet? Then download our travel SEO case study in PDF format.

content creationTravel sites still tend be largely descriptive. Look at our apartments here, see how luxurious our hotel is, our flights are the cheapest etc. This is not really content in the sense I refer to here. I mean content that can appeal to web users who do not necessarily plan to visit you or your city. People who don’t even think of travelling but love the images, videos or blog posts. You see, I mentioned some of these above but it’s important to offer content for so called long tail searches. People searching for “london design hotel near airport” won’t find you unless your site mentions these words somewhere in an article. Here you can compete with the big guys from day one. You might start a blog for your business but that’s just one option. User Generated Contect (UGC) is another.

authority sitesSome sites are still too young to rank for competitive travel relates searches. They can indirectly though when they place advertorials on already esatblsihed sites. This is a widely used technique by main stream media. Newspaper sites for instance offer such spots on their sites where they actually borrow you their rankings. When you can’t beat them, join them!

travel search enginesDon’t forget travel search engines like Kayak, Sidestep or Travelocity to name just a few. What shopping search engines are for e-commerce sites, travel search engines mean for travel SEO; good additional traffic sources. Most of them have been around for years and have many users. Both Yahoo and Bing have also a say in the travel search market where otherwise you would ignore them in many cases.

multilingual SEOThis might seem obvious as well but how many hotels have websites in Russian, Chinese or Arabic? There are hundreds of languages and while you may assume that everybody speaks English most people search the Web in their native tongue. So while it may be near impossible to outmatch your competition in English you may be able to do so in other languages and local Google versions. Some nations also have important other search engines. China and Russia for instance have.10 Travel SEO Strategies

news SEOWhen it comes to travel plans we often decide in the last minute. We may view a television program, find out about an event abroad or simply search for the random inspiration. A news event or a even a piece on the news which is not really a news item can provide such inspiration. For instance you can publish something on a group blog in the wake of a major event and draw visitors to your site. Our blog at SEOptimise can be found in Google News search results and I’ve used that technique more than once.

1) Local SEO + map SEOThis is obvious, travel SEO is location based like no other. Even people from across the pond look for local results in your area on Google and beyond. Google local search results show up in most cases in searches like hotel london or apartment oxford. To appear there you need a lot of reviews on travel oriented sites like Tripadvisor. This is a strategy all travel related businesses should consider but especially those with new domains (1 year old or below). You may consider map SEO part of local SEO but I’m talking here also about map providers other than Google. We had maps on the web long before Google. Many of them survived and still draw large traffic. I look in most cases for maps made in the country or place I go to. These are more accurate. Being on such maps is a major advantage for hotels, restaurants and other tourism related sites.

social media marketingPeople don’t rely solely on Google these days. That’s not really news. Social Media is the elephant in the room. You can’t ignore social media marketing. Image and video is just part of it. The real social media is Facebook and Twitter but also first wave sites like Delicious or StumbleUpon. Of course travel oriented social sites abound. Sites like Foursquare and Gowalla are booming at the intersection of local SEO and social networking.

image SEOWhen searching for a destination to go to or a place to stay what do you look for? A keyword rich description? hardly. Rather you’re after beautiful images of nature, buildings and interiors. So image SEO should be a key component of a travel SEO campaign. Also it’s often far easier to get ranked in Google Image Search. Last but not least images show up in the regular Google search via Google Universal search results. In most cases image results are displaced on top of the page or above the fold.

  • Do you want to know whether your site can already compete with the big guys?
  • Do you want to know how you could improve your visibility beyond organic Google results?

brandingCompeting for generic phrases or keywords can be murderous. So making people search for a brand is a good alternative. Also in case you can compete for the generic terms you should do more for your branding, not only in order to get branded searches via Google. Search results are volatile, Google might even change the algorithm in a way that you get downranked. With a strong brand you can survive even when your rankings don’t supply enough traffic anymore.

Due to the high competitiveness of this market, travel SEO should be approached in manifold ways.

The person that owned house next door asked if he could hook into my fence in order to fence his back yard in. A year or so later, somebody else moved in to house. They are “neighbors from HELL”, and I’m thinking about putting up a privacy fence. Can I unhook their fence that is linked to mine now, or is it a permanent thing by law since it was hooked to my fence when they moved in?

Google Officially Announces that Site Speed Counts as a Ranking …

General | Comments (0) @ 12:26 am

It has been rumoured by many and mentioned by Google since late last year that the speed of a website is a very important factor. It should come as no surprise then, that Google made the official announcement that they are including a new signal into their search ranking algorithms: site speed.

Simply put, site speed reflects how quickly a website responds to a web request. The speed of a website (time that it takes to load) is very important, to all Internet users and specifically, site owners.

Google says that their users place a lot of value in speed and after doing some internal studies they have found that if they slow users down [on Google.com] thay have seen less engagement. They have come to the conclusion that users love fast sites and that a faster web is a good thing for everyone.

Faster sites create happy users, improves user experience and reduces operating costs. If a site responds slowly, visitors spend less time there.

This is enough motivation for Google and why site speed is taken into account in search rankings.

How does Google measures page speed?
There are two primary ways Google will measure page speed:

  1. How a page responds to Googlebot
  2. Load time as measured by the Google Toolbar

Tools for you to test your site’s speed
If you are a site owner or webmaster, here are some free tools that you can use to evaluate the speed of your site:

  • Page Speed, an open source Firefox/Firebug add-on that evaluates the performance of web pages and gives suggestions for improvement.
  • YSlow, a free tool from Yahoo! that suggests ways to improve website speed.
  • WebPagetest shows a waterfall view of your pages’ load performance plus an optimization checklist.
  • In Webmaster Tools, Labs > Site Performance shows the speed of your website as experienced by users around the world as in the chart below. We’ve also blogged about site performance.
  • Many other tools on code.google.com/speed.

According to Google, site speed is a new signal and it does not carry as much weight as the relevance of a page. They are saying that currently there are fewer than 1% of search queries affected by the site speed signal and that the signal for site speed only applies for visitors searching in English on Google.com.

Your site may, or may not, be affected, but it is widely suggested that you start looking at your site’s speed to improve your ranking in search engines and improve everyone’s experience on the Internet.
